The Mississippi School Property Development Act

This legislation opens new opportunities to school districts and to local economic developers to fully develop surplus and underutilized properties owned by school districts.

Amendments to the Act made during the 2006 session of the Mississippi Legislature expand the authority of schools under this Act, among other things. 

The Duling School Development Project:  A joint venture with the Jackson Pubic Schools and the Mattaice-Peters Development Company, this project with take a 70-year elementary school and retrofit it for urban living as a mixed used condominium/retail development. The development begins in July, 2006, and will be know as Fondren Place.
